Stewart, Jordyn2019-05-132019-05-132019-05-132019-04-26http://hdl.handle.net/10012/14627Cul-de-sac Island is a multimedia installation that combines personal research, lens-based strategies and performative re-enactments to camera that engage in a self-reflective investigation of identity, place and territory. Juxtaposing elements of the natural and the unnatural, my work questions personal and collective assumptions about the landscape, while exploring the correlation between nature and nationhood. By re-positioning myself within familiar sites from my childhood, my work interrogates the suburban spaces that have influenced my understanding of nature and the ways in which these constructed environments instill a human privilege over the landscape.enPerformancecul-de-sacVideoCanadianaNatureMaple LeafFlagLens-basedCul-de-sac IslandLandscape StudySyrupPatriotismIllusionGreen ScreenCul-de-sac IslandMaster Thesis
